WordCamp Vršac 2025 recap

And so it was: the first-ever Wordcamp Vršac 2025. Over the weekend of September 12-14, it gathered more than 200 people united by their love for WordPress and willingness to make it better. Here are some of our most memorable bits and pieces we’ve taken home.

Local community

Just like the slogan: Wind * WordPress * Wine suggested, time in Vršac was swirly, exciting and infused with lots of good energy and laughs. Vršac and the overall Serbian community is very proactive, always tuned for having a good time and eager to talk all things WordPress. From the time we arrived in this city, to going to Speaker’s dinner, conference day and finally Contributor day – we talked about what we can do to make our ecosystem better, shared our stories, made plans for some upcoming WordCamps and collaborations (stay tuned, soon!). We’ve even got a chance to interview some of the community members – follow us on social media to learn more about it as well.

What moved us

Conference day started strong, with a talk about making smarter choices about building sites that sell and the ultimate takeaway from this talk is, basically: it’s not about you and what you like. Listen to your marketing team and their client/customer insights.

Anne-Mieke Bovelett, our dear friend and a huge accessibility advocate, had a very inspiring talk about reclaiming your time and shared practical ways to do so – upon giving us the exact estimate of just how much time she saves by paying subscriptions for tools that ease her life. Something we at WPBakery are well aware of and know why Support Plus exists, among other things.

Vineet Talwar had an amazing interactive talk in which he shared some of the common UX mistakes companies make – by showing us some worldwide known and local website examples that he politely roasted. Made quite a few laughs with it, too, and ended with practical and usable tips on how to correct these mistakes.

The final talk was very well prepared and executed about accessibility and what it means to have accessible e-commerce. Aleksandra Antić and Lazar Bulatović helped us understand why this is a crucial thing for all businesses, how to optimize e-commerce solutions and break digital barriers and shared most common accessibility issues for accessible mobile apps:

– no alt-tags
– buttons and links without clear labels
– text and background low contrast
– touch targets too small
– inconsistent navigation and focus

While we’re at the topic of accessibility, ManageWP did an update to their site, implementing some of Anne’s advice and overall best practices – something we’re learned during our chat with them – might as well take a look yourselves to see how it all looks in practice.

Apart from supporting WordCamp Vršac 2025 as sponsors, we had our own speaker there as well. Ivana Ćirković gave a talk about better use of AI for content creation and showcased how to future-proof your content strategy to thrive in the world of AI-powered marketing.

Final thoughts

We came back home filled with good energy and a lot of notes, looking forward to implementing some of the insights and takeaways we learned while there. The official event ended with a great party held by GoDaddy and an inspiring Contributor day, where we inspired some future WordPress professionals in the form of very eager highschoolers.
