Our largest product update to date introduces a cleaner interface, more responsive editing, modular CSS loading and broader compatibility with the current WordPress ecosystem.
Developed over more than eight months, WPBakery 9.0 introduces a redesigned editing interface, a rebuilt drag-and-drop engine, updated content elements and attribute controls, smarter asset loading and extensive compatibility work across the WordPress ecosystem. The release is designed to reduce the time users spend managing the builder itself and make common editing tasks faster, clearer and more predictable.

The goal was not simply to change how WPBakery looks, but to make the entire building workflow more efficient.”
A redesigned editing experience
WPBakery 9.0 introduces a cleaner and more structured interface across the builder. More than 70 content elements have been updated, together with over 40 redesigned attribute types used to configure layouts, spacing, typography and other element settings.
The updated interface gives users clearer access to frequently used controls while retaining the familiar WPBakery workflow. Existing users can continue working with the same core page-building approach without having to learn an entirely different system.
Rebuilt drag-and-drop functionality
The drag-and-drop engine has been rebuilt to provide smoother and more reliable element placement.
Users can move content elements, rows and columns with clearer positioning feedback and less friction, particularly when working with more complex page structures. The update is intended to make layout changes feel more immediate while reducing interruptions during routine editing.
Smarter asset loading and performance improvements
WPBakery 9.0 changes how the plugin loads its CSS assets. Instead of relying on a larger shared stylesheet for every page, the new modular approach allows required styles to be loaded more selectively.
This can reduce unnecessary CSS and help address common performance concerns such as render-blocking resources and unused styles. The resulting impact will depend on the website, theme, hosting environment, installed plugins and page configuration, but the underlying change gives site owners and developers a stronger foundation for improving page performance and Core Web Vitals.
The release also includes broader codebase optimization, with more than 20,000 lines of code removed and over 50,000 lines added or updated during development.
Built for the current WordPress ecosystem
Compatibility was another major focus of the 9.0 release.
WPBakery completed extensive testing across current WordPress technologies, themes, plugins and development environments. The updated and standardized attribute system is also intended to provide greater consistency for theme authors and third-party developers who integrate their products with WPBakery.
More predictable parameter handling can make integrations easier to maintain and reduce inconsistencies between native and third-party content elements.
New Knowledge Base and documentation
Alongside the product release, WPBakery has introduced a new Knowledge Base that brings documentation, practical guides, troubleshooting information and code resources into one location.
The new resource is intended to help users find answers more quickly, whether they are installing WPBakery for the first time, managing an existing website or developing an integration.
Shaped by community testing
WPBakery 9.0 was developed through more than 3,500 development commits and included work addressing over 200 issues across the product. The beta version was tested by approximately 500 participants, whose reports and feedback helped the team identify issues, test real-world workflows and refine the final release.

Customers with an existing WPBakery license can update to version 9.0 without purchasing a new license. As with any major WordPress update, users are advised to create a complete backup and test the new version in a staging environment before updating a live website, particularly when using custom integrations or third-party add-ons.
