Introducing WPBakery 8.2: Post Type Settings in the Frontend Editor and Beta Testing

We’re excited to announce that WPBakery 8.2 is here! This release brings two exciting new updates: WordPress default post-type settings are now available directly in the frontend editor, and beta versions will now be available for public testing.

What’s new in WPBakery 8.2?

Post Type Settings in the Frontend Editor

You can now access WordPress default post-type settings directly in the frontend editor page settings. This means you no longer need to switch between the backend and frontend when editing pages, posts, or custom post types.

Plus, all settings are automatically synchronized across WordPress and WPBakery, including SEO settings.

With this update, you can configure:

Configure WordPress default post type setting in WPBakery

  • Hide Page Title – Toggle to change the visibility of the page title on the current page.
  • Post Status – Set the page as a draft, published, or pending review.
  • Slug – Modify the page URL.
  • Categories and tags – Add or update categories and tags for posts.
  • Template – Select a template from templates defined in WordPress.
  • Manage menus – Manage your WordPress site menus (available only if the theme supports it).
  • Featured image – Set a featured image.
  • Excerpt – Add a summary of the page content (if left blank, the first lines of content will be used automatically).
  • Author – Change the author of the page.
  • Allow comments – Enable to allow users to leave comments (as defined in WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> Discussion).
  • Allow trackbacks and pingbacks – Enable to receive alerts when other websites link to the page.

Note: Available settings may vary depending on the post type and theme.

This update makes the process of configuring your page, post, and post type settings more simple, by reducing the steps in your publication workflow.

Beta Version Testing

WPBakery 8.2 also introduces beta testing, allowing you to try new features before the official releases. This is your chance to get early access to new features, provide feedback, and help shape future updates.

Update Automatically

Enable beta version in WPBakery Page Builder settings

In WordPress Dashboard → WPBakery Page Builder → General Settings, select Enable Beta Version to get a notification whenever a new beta version of WPBakery Page Builder is available.

Important: If automatic updates are enabled, the beta version will install automatically.

Download Manually

Download WPBakery beta versions from the Customer Center

If you prefer to install the beta versions yourself, you can download the latest beta version from the Beta section in the Customer Center.

Important: Test beta versions only on staging or development environments.

Submitting Feedback

After testing the latest beta version, we welcome you to submit your feedback by opening a ticket via the Customer Center. In case you don’t have access to our ticketing system, you can renew support or submit feedback in our official Facebook community.

Note: The testing and feedback collection period for the beta version is usually one week, starting from the beta version release date.

By becoming a beta tester you help us refine new features, catch bugs, and ensure compatibility with third-party themes and plugins. Your feedback can shape every update and make WPBakery even better.

What’s Next?

There you have it – starting from WPBakery 8.2, you can publish faster by configuring page, post, and post type settings directly in the frontend editor. Plus, you can test new features early and share your feedback to help improve WPBakery.

Keep an eye out for WPBakery 8.3 Beta, coming soon with new features like Font Awesome 6 icons, a new Google Maps element, and an option to add WPBakery AI to custom fields of your custom elements through API.

Last but not least, the long-awaited WPBakery Customer Center update is planned to be launched this February – with a public roadmap, feature submission, and voting available to all WPBakery customers.
